Therapy looks a little different for everyone. Through the therapeutic relationship, we will work together towards your goals. Sessions are 50 minutes and conducted via secure video platform or via phone.
I support my clients to explore their patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviours that may no longer be serving them. I offer an holistic and comprehensive approach to therapy to support your goals and needs using a variety of therapeutic modalities listed below.
What is an Holistic & Comprehensive Approach look like?
A holistic and comprehensive approach is a mind, body and spirit therapeutic approach to therapy considering the whole person's experience. This means addressing your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs in your life rather than focusing on a specific symptom or two. This approach promotes overall wellbeing through a comprehensive understanding of your situation and desired goals.
1. The initial Consult
I will meet with you virtually and discuss your reasons for seeking out therapy as well as your primary goals for therapy. This 15 min free consult is not only to talk about your goals but also to determine if we are a good fit for each other. If we both decide that we are a good fit, then your first session will be booked.
2. First Session
At our first session, we will review paperwork including consent forms and go through an intake form. The intake form will help me to understand you, your background and current reasons for seeking therapy so I can deliver the best, tailored therapy for you. For individual counselling, your investment will be $130 for 50 mins. I do offer limited spots through an affordable program where your investment could be as low as $80 for 50 mins. This is something we can definitely speak about during the initial and/or first session.
My specialties include supporting neurodivergent individuals including those with ADHD and Autism (Level 1) and individuals with chronic pain. I am primarily Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) oriented; however, I often use other modalities like Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
What are these modalities?
1. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT emphasizes helping people manage mental health conditions like anxiety and depression by changing how people think and behave.
2. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
DBT has been adapted from CBT to help people learn to manage their emotions and make positive changes in their life.
3. Mindfulness CBT
Mindfulness CBT is a combination of CBT, meditation and the cultivation of a present-oriented, non-judgmental attitude called mindfulness. Mindfulness is the act of consciously focusing the mind in the moment without judgement and attachment.
4. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT is a psychological intervention that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies along with commitment and behavior-change strategies to increase psychological flexibility.
